Communities of Desire is about creating zones of otherness. A street is cut off and used as a zone for play and exchange. We were referring loosely to Charles Fourier, an early socialist writer, and dedicated the space to the desire for freedom and communality to be played out in public. As the event coincided with the apple season, we collected free apples and made the streets float with lemonade, or in this case free freshly pressed apple juice.
